- Metal drums vary in volume measured in gallons: 55 gallons is the industry standard size, but 30 gallons, 20 gallons, 15 gallons , 10 gallons and 5 gallons are also available.
- Lid types include removable Open Head/Open Top with fully removable top; non-removable Tight Head/Closed Top with small openings; Lever-Lock and Bolt Ring lids.
- Material of construction includes Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Galvanized Steel and Aluminum.
- Wall thicknesses range from Standard Gauge to Heavy Duty to Light Gauge. Internal coatings are Epoxy Lined, Phenolic Lined, Polyethylene Lined or Unlined.
- Certification covers UN/DOT standards for dangerous goods, FDA for food, IMDG for marine transportation.
- Bottom type can be Flat Bottom, Convex Bottom or Concave Bottom.
- Special features include Stackable, Heated, Insulated, Explosion Proof and Antistatic.
- Barrels with non-removable lids vary in the number of openings: Single Bung, Double Bung, various sizes of 3/4“, 2” and other openings.
